2007 Scholastics Overview

A flagship event for the ESA and a proud start to the competitive season, this year’s Scholastics saw a plethora of serious shredding and superior sportsmanship--not to mention steady swell. The East Coast’s brightest emerging stars flanked the Sunshine State’s balmy waters and idyllic beaches.

2007 East Coast Scholastic Surfing Championships

Presented by FEW-New Zealand, the 21st running of the nation's top scholastic event is set for March 31 - April 2, 2007 in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Designed to award more than $50,000 in scholarships funds, this event is also designated as trial number 2 for the 2008 ESA Allstar team.

The top Scholastic Event in the United States is back and this year is presented by FEW -NEW ZEALAND! 21 Years of continually running makes this event the longest and most successful purely Scholastic event in the country and the list of past champions goes back to our top ESA product, Kelly Slater of Cocoa Beach High School, who at 14, showed what was to come in the years ahead.

We in the ESA are very proud of being able to produce this premier showcase event and honor our sponsors, including FEW - NEW ZEALAND, who understand that surfing and education should, and must, go hand in hand.
