The Eastern Surfing Association is hosting its Southeast Regional Surfing Championships at Paradise Beach Park in Melbourne Beach, Florida March 28-30, 2014.
The ESA is the largest amateur surf organization in the United States. Established in 1967, the non-profit ESA will bring over 200 competitors and spectators to the resort area for three days of exciting surfing and SUP surfing competition.
“We are thrilled to bring this event back to the Melbourne Beach area,” says ESA Executive Director Michelle Sommers. “It is a perfect location for waves and convenience for competitors.”
Pam Hill, ESA’s Southeast Regional Director, has been involved in the ESA for many years. “Her experience of organizing and running surf contests will make this event one of the best in years,” states Sommers.
The competitors for this event have qualified through their local ESA districts. They will be competing for their chance to surf the ESA’s final championship event, the Easterns.
A live, streaming webcast will cover all three days of competition on the ESA website. The ESA is welcoming any local sponsors who are interested. “Not only do businesses and individuals get a tax benefit for donating since the ESA is a non-profit, they are helping to promote this exciting event to a huge audience of various demographics,” Sommers adds.
ESA’s national sponsors for this event include Reflekt Polarized, Sick Trix, johnnie-O, Hyperflex Wetsuits, MCC Global Travel, Catch Surf, Surfer Magazine, Swellinfo, Sticky Bumps Surf Wax, Surfco and Chums. Local sponsors include Paradise Treats, The Paddleboard House, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Surfinista, The Green Room and Dos Mexican Restaurant in Satellite Beach.
The Central Florida ESA District, directed by Mike Grant and Mario Deluca, is the event’s host-district. “On behalf of the Central Florida District of the ESA we welcome competitors and spectators to the 2014 Southeast Regional Surfing Championships! There will be Florida Sunshine and a Central Florida fun time! See you on the beach!” say Grant.
The ESA, which is in its 47th year, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit amateur athletic organization dedicated to the sport of amateur surfing. The organization promotes amateur competition for surfers of all ages and abilities, and is dedicated to the establishment and preservation of free access to a clean shoreline and ocean environment.
